A film is a narrative using the moving image, with or without sound accompanyment.
Does it matter whether it is on film, digital or drawn manually for a mutascope?
Appreciation is the prerogative of the beholder. The fact it was made using film or digital is irrelevant.
If you are thinking about the future, use digital.
If you want to play with retro-technology use film.
Use both. Have fun.

if a film is well made and entertaining i don't think it matters at all what format it is made on
Any format can be used to make a good film as long as the person who is making the film is aware of the advantages and limitations of the format they are using (especially if its digital).

R.E-The Beatles Yellow Submarine-It's not one of the greatest movies ever made. It might be one of YOUr favourites, but it's not one of the greatest.
And not INSPIRED by a Beatles song. It's a Beatles movie. Like A Hard Day's Night. That wasn't INSPIRED was it, it was made to capitalise on The beatles success. Now that is one of the greatest movies ever made.
Only thing is, The Beatles aren't actually in it (until the end)
And who does Paul's voice?
Twiggy from the Royle Family.
Genius!
